XueLian Lotus Root Professional Cooperative was located at Luotun Economy Development Zone of Yutai, integrating cultivation, research and breeding, occupying the planting area about 100arce now. The leading products in our company is gained by introducing the latest variety of XueLian lotus roots(America XueLian) by Shandong Academy of Agricultural Science which successfully bred by adopting space technique by America’s Ministry of Agriculture in 2000, some agricultural experts also take advantage of the breed of 3711 as male parent, America’s XueLian as female parent, to carry out grafting together, with five years’ efforts of hi-tech breeding, the first generation original seed has been acquired —“No.3 America XueLian” with high content of science and technology, which also fits for growing in different climate in China. In the year of 2006, its output achieved to over 5,000kg(test field), which has broken Guinness World Record, and won the Newest Science & Technology Award of Department of Agriculture.

The breed has special figure of growth, that is, thick in trunk, large, thick, black in leaves, rapid in figure of growth, strong in stem, high in expanding divergence, 2.5m in height of trunk, 50—80gram in lead surface DIA, 4—6 Lotus Rhizome Node, around 1.2m—15m in length of lotus root, about 4.5kg/pic generally.

This breed has high production and high quality, with thin, smooth, white skin, small hole but full meat, high rate of sugar content that it is 3 or 7 times more than the local ones’, also contains high content of starch, sweet not tart as eat raw, so that can be eat regarding as fruits, also reaching the standard of supermarkets and export. It is suitable for planting under low water such as man-made cement pit, concrete land, with output highly achieving to 6,000kg/acre, 3,500—4.500kg/arce in general. In recent years, the company has carried out experiment in terms of mixed culture of fish and lotus roots, which mainly launches the breeding of loach, eels and others in low lotus root water, and having gained a great achievement, with production of loach reaching over 150kg.
